Following in his dad's footsteps, Shefford devotes himself to freeing his community from the grip of a particularly despotic Mormon sect. In so doing, he rescues his foster sister Fay Larkin, who is coveted by lecherous Mormon elder Wagoner. As was the case in Riders of the Purple Sage, the Mormons are villains simply because they are Mormons.
Broncho Billy is requested to resign his office as sheriff. John Jenkin's son is appointed his successor. The new sheriff is given a severe fright a few days later when the bad man of the town enters his office and threatens to shoot him. After this episode he sends in his resignation not having the nerve to serve as sheriff.
Cowboy star Buck Jones made his directorial debut with the Universal western For the Service. Jones is cast as Indian scout Buck O'Bryan, trying his best to keep the peace between the Native Americans and a government outpost. O'Bryan is replaced by George Murphy, the son of commanding officer Captain Murphy. Obviously unqualified for his job, Murphy proves himself a coward and a weakling, forcing O'Bryan to take over when the fort is besieged by outlaw Bruce Howard and his gang.
Bud Rand, a cowboy who is charged with the care of Little Billy Rand, accepts an offer to appear with Copeland's Wild West Show to ride a horse called "Mankiller." Dude, Copeland's righthand man, resents Bud's attentions to Mary, one of the performers, and when they fight it out, Bud is the victor. In revenge Dude loosens the cinch on the horse.....
In the village of Rockspring, the election of "little sheriff" is taking place, whereby a child is chosen to assist the local sheriff for a week. When a young girl is kidnapped, the sheriff sets off to rescue her, and the children organize their own search party to free their friend.
Ned Raleigh, a cowboy on the Stone Ranch, is laughed at by his pal Rawhide Barton for emulating his chivalrous namesake, Sir Walter Raleigh. Manning, an eastern capitalist, agrees to make Stone a loan to pay off his mortgage if he surrenders 200 head of cattle as security; Manning, after he discovers oil on the property, conspires with Blake, Stone's foreman, to hide the stock, and thus secure the land for himself.
In a saloon shooting, a cowboy thinks he killed Prince Katey, a man he closely resembles. Cannonball arrives and thinking the cowboy to be Katey, gets him to return to the Katey ranch where the mother is in trouble. She thinks her missing son has returned and even though the Sheriff is chasing him, he decides to take up the mother's fight against the man who is trying to throw her off the ranch.
Caught by the Piutes, pony Express Rider Dick Carter falls in love with pretty Dorothy Earle, who belongs to that seemingly endless supply of white girls kidnapped in childhood and raised by Indians. Does Dorothy succeed in taking her own life rather than face an uncertain future with evil Bud? Or does the stalwart Dick rescue her in time?

Whip poses as a wanted outlaw while Jim joins Taggart's gang and helps break him out. But there is trouble when gang member Mike, wanting a bigger cut, double-crosses everyone.
Isabel, the daughter of Don Antonio; a rich land owner in Tepestates, Jalisco returns to her town after five years away, to visit her father. She is confronted by the unpleasant surprise that her dad has been assassinated by the malicious municiple government, which has the whole town in a clutch of terror. "An excellent sharp-shooter is worth more here, than a good lawyer..." This phrase inspires lawyer Leonardo Torres to convert himself into a guardian of justice, who will defend the right of the weak against tyranny. Nobody would ever guess that the "timid" lawyer is in reality none other than the dreadful "Zorro of Jalisco."
Olive's ranch needs a helper, and the boys just happen to be passing by. Bluto's convinced he's better, but Popeye wins at all of Olive's tests: riding a bronco and branding. As Popeye wins the job, Bluto starts a stampede and a fire simultaneously. With some spinach help, Popeye gets Bluto out of the way, douses the fire, and saves Olive from the stampede.
