"Sweet Osmanthus Flowering Late" is a feature-length ethnographic film that envisions social rejuvenation and collective convalescence in the aftermath of the pandemic. Filmed in Wuhan, the film follows the everyday lives of three middle-class households. It postulates the existence of a mass dreaming phenomenon that facilitated fatigued Chinese inhabitants to rejuvenate themselves following the secluded episode of lived experience and to coexist with the enduring imprints of "the event" on their social lives.

Four children, the oldest 12 years old and the youngest 11 months old, are traveling in a small plane with their mother, when due to technical failures the pilot has to try to land on the Amazon jungle of the Colombian Guaviare. The small plane falls headlong into the trees, dying. the mother and the pilot, but the children remain completely unharmed, suddenly finding themselves alone and unprotected in the middle of the jungle. With the idea of returning home, they begin to walk without knowing where to go exactly. They have no food or help of any kind. Groups of indigenous people begin to look for them as well as members of the Colombian army without knowing if they are alive or have perished. After forty days, an indigenous search group finds them and hands them over to the authorities.

The film is based on real events – in 2005 Viktor Kalivoda murdered 3 random strollers he chanced upon in the forests in Czechia. The case received much attention for its lack of motive. After his arrest, Kalivoda confessed, but did not reveal his motive. The film will closely observe one year in his life leading up to the murders and his arrest.
