Biography

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Lewis John Carlino is best known as the director of The Great Santini starring Robert Duvall, Blythe Danner and Michael O'Keefe. He has worked as a director and screenwriter on a number of movies during a career which has spanned five decades and includes such works as The Fox, The Brotherhood, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, Resurrection, The Mechanic, and The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea. He has also directed the work of such performers as Sarah Miles, Kris Kristofferson, Jacqueline Bisset, Rob Lowe, Cliff Robertson and Andrew McCarthy. Carlino has been honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Writers Guild of America and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his efforts which involved films derived from his own original works such as The Brotherhood and The Mechanic as well as his adaptations of the work of noted authors, including D.
