Biography

James 'Jim' Couroux is a Canadian writer, director, and film composer. As a filmmaker, Couroux often works in horror and drama drawing upon memories, nightmares, and dreams to craft surreal, grounded, and explorative pieces. Couroux founded the filmmaking collective Monochromatic Pillow Pictures in March of 2021 to recruit other up-and-coming filmmakers in the hopes of creating a free space for creative exploration and professional collaboration. For his work on "Playland: A Dream-O-Vision Experience" (2023) Couroux took home Best Editing and Best Sound with the film's Cinematographer, Alejandro Jamarillo taking home the Best Cinematography award at the 1st Year BFTV Showcase. The production took home 3 of the 5 awards that night. Couroux currently studies Film & TV at Sheridan College in their BFTV program.
